WHAT IS COMPUTER ETHICS ?

↪ Computer Ethics are the moral guidelines that govern the use of computers and information systems.

1. Information Accuracy

Definition ; A measure of the reliability of information held within an IT system

Explanation ; User should evaluate value of the Web Page before relying on its content.

       

2. Green Computing

Definition ; Involves reducing the electricity and environmental  waste while using a computer.

Reason ; i. To stop destroying environment / global warming

               ii. Reduce electricity consumption

3. Codes Of Conduct

Definition ; A written guideline that helps determine whether a specific computer action is ethical or unethical.

1. Computer may not be used to harm other people . Example ; Write bad program (virus) that handles the timing of the bomb, access & destroy files.
2. Computer may not be used to steal. Example ; break into the account of the company / bank account & transfer )
3. Computer may not be used to bear false witness. Example ; Spreading false rumors about a person or false propaganda about historical event is wrong.
